Well, the 2018 New York Toy Fair is in full swing, and reports have already begun to pour in! One, in particular, by Hasbro, has got us here at RetroFused very excited!
Return of the Jedi was my very first experience seeing a Star Wars film on the big screen. This was the film that had the biggest impact on me as a kid. And out of all the vehicles that promulgated from Return of the Jedi footage, it was Jabba's Sail Barge where my imagination had always sojourned over and over again.
So discovering today that Hasbro has made the ultimate in 3.75-inch scale vehicle from my favorite Star Wars movie, I was at a loss for words. Yes, Jabba the Hutt's Sail Barge has been put on the development line by Hasbro, and from initial designs, is just breathtaking! This 14lbs monster will include two decks, separate chambers, removable panels, and soft cloth panel sails. Jabba himself will also be included in this incredible playset all in 80's vintage style packaging!
So when and where can you buy this marvelous vehicle for your collection? Well, it's not for sale, yet, and sadly might not be. Jabbas Sail Barge can only happen if there's enough support. Yup, you heard me. Due to its size and exclusivity, Hasbro has made this a crowdfunded project, which will need all us fans to make happen! We have already backed this project, and we hope whoever reads this will get over to HasLab.com and back this up too. It won't be cheap, at $499.00, but judging by the photos, this will be the ultimate for the Star Wars collector and will be worth every penny!
