As the 2017 year comes to a close, stores are sure to get new merchandise for the upcoming holiday season. When it comes to merchandise with retro pizazz, however, Funko has been a forerunner, and hopefully, this is just a taste of goodies to come for the upcoming 2018 year.
Funko, has a relatively new line called "Vynl" and today we're looking at the Classic Thundercats 2-pack, that had found its start as exclusives at the New York Comic Con. I, of course, didn't get mine there as a trip to my local Toys"R"Us had plenty in stock. Let's take a look at these newer styled Figurines.
Upon first impressions, I'm really liking the style, more so than the more established Pop figures. Speaking of Pop's, these "Vynl" figures are approximately the same size, perhaps just a shy larger. They seem to showcase a bit more detail and be more expressive in facial paint and body pose.
This 2-pack, debuts Lion-O and Mumm-Ra and they look fantastic! The packaging shows off screen grabs from the original 80's series which is a really nice touch, and like Pop's, these can easily be restored in the original packaging.

Quality and Details
These figures are made of a plastic resin, and the heads are no doubt hollow. Paint and details are exceptional. Being simple display statues, don't expect too much in the way of features. At first glance, it looked as if limited articulation with the arms may have been possible, but unfortunately, it's not. Rest assured as the heads do swivel from side to side and like the Pop collection, Funko customarily included clear round acrylic figure stands.
Lion-O is fantastic. I feel they captured this retro hero beautifully. He comes equipped with his non removable Sword of Omens and Claw Shield. Moving to Mumm-Ra, and he has all his classic visual cues. Headdress and cape.

Wrap Up
I won't be surprised to see this line successfully pick up steam, as these have a certain charm that the Pop line just seems to miss. Great, just when I thought my collection under control!
